Emission Observatory

Emission observatory is a service for monitoring man-made GHG and air pollution emission sources based on satellite data. The service is designed to provide improved and transparent emission information over the African continent. Satellite data are particularly useful in places where no reliable emission information is available, and/or the ground-based measurement networks are sparse. The focus areas of the service are: mining industry, energy sector, megacities and oil & gas industry. The service is designed together with users and stakeholders. We collaborate with several Finnish companies, national and international organizations and authorities.

Emission Observatory is developed with the support of the Research Council of Finland (Decision number: 359455) through the Proof of Concept Funding 2023.
